Diabetes Mellitus has assumed pandemic proportions and is indeed the scourge of the modern era. At present there are 300 million diabetics worldwide and the number is expected to double over the next five years. India with its huge diabetic population holds the distinction of being dubbed the DIABETIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.
Services for treatment of diabetes range from one time visit to assess the state of diabetes control and complications and need for treatment adjustment to ongoing monitoring and treatment of diabetes.
In addition, we have specific services to meet needs of patients who have a new diagnosis of diabetes. Patients who develop type-I diabetes are considered to be in a state of emergency/urgency where care needs to be delivered to these patients, however most outpatient facilities do not have the breadth of experience and services to provide the services to a new onset diabetes patient and most patients end up in the hospital. We have developed a plan of care for patients who develop new onset diabetes and are cared for at our center as outpatients.
In addition to these services, we offer state of the art service with insulin pumps where all brands of bumps are used. In addition personal glucose monitors are also prescribed and patients are trained on their use.
As far as diabetes education services are concerned, we offer weekly comprehensive diabetes classes for patients with type-II diabetes and a class, which is specifically geared towards patients with juvenile/type-I diabetes. #diabetescare
At FS Endo Diabetes , we are dedicated to addressing this problem with state-of-the-art Diabetology Services which includes – Equipments used for early screening, teaching diabetic patients to manage the disease (awareness and counseling) and best treatment procedures for patients cure.
Diabetes Mellitus is a deadly disease which affects virtually every part of the body. Diabetes usually affects organs like:
Brain (stroke) Nerve Damage (neuropathy)
Heart (heart attack) Additionally, diabetes itself can cause
Leg (gangrene) high blood pressure, high blood
Kidney (kidney failure) cholesterol and high infection rates.
Eye (retinopathy)
Screening for Diabetes complications hence should be thorough and extensive. At FS Endo Diabetes we use the most modern equipments for such screening.
Diabetic Retinopathy Screening: Recommended annually through fundoscopy and retinal photographic documentation. Diabetics are 25 times more prone to eye diseases known as Retinopathy. Hence special attention is given to the eye by a team of doctors. It includes direct fundus examination, indirect fundus examination, slit lamp, refraction, retina and macular examination
Diabetic Heart Check Up: This is done through ECG, Treadmill, Echo and Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathy Screening. 4 times more vulnerable than non-diabetic patients, diabetics do not experience any chest pain at the time of an heart attack, hence it is vital for them to undergo a complete cardio work-up annually.
Diabetic Kidney Check Up: Annual screening for Micro Albuminuria Renal Function Tests and Renal Ultrasonography. Diabetic kidney disease if detected at an early stage is completely reversible.
Diabetic Peripheral Vascular Screening: Done through Doppler and ABI Measurement.
Diabetic Neuropathy Screening: Done through Biothesiometry, Filament testing and HCP Study. Sophisticated nerve conduction velocity studies are also available. Numbness in the foot and hand, tingling sensations, burning pain in the legs and foot, are the symptoms of Diabetic Neuropathy.
Diabetic Foot Study: This is done through sophisticated foot scanning machine (Podoscopy) Improper foot care may lead to foot ulcers which may turn gangrenous. This in turn leads to amputation of legs.
